Job Description
Discover Financial Services is looking for an Application Engineer to join their team. As an Application Engineer at Discover, you will collaborate with product designers and user experience experts to enhance the customer experience on discover.com. This role involves analyzing, designing, programming, testing, and deploying new features with a focus on quality and security. You will also provide guidance to junior team members, contribute to technology communities, and actively manage and resolve issues.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze, design, and deploy new features with quality and security in mind.
- Provide guidance to junior team members and influence achievement of team commitments.
- Oversee design decisions and guide the team to meet product goals.
- Manage risks and escalate issues to leadership.
- Contribute to technology communities at Discover.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
- Technical proficiency rating of competent on the Dreyfus engineering scale (for internal applicants).
Bonus Points:
- Experience with Java, Spring Boot, React, and UI Technology.
- Proficiency in TDD, BDD, Selenium/Cucumber for test automations.
- Knowledge of Cloud and containerization.
- Strong team player.
