Job Description

Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) in Topeka, KS, has a position for an experienced Construction Inspector. This role is responsible for inspecting and reporting on various phases of the civil construction process, including new construction and renovations, to ensure compliance with regulations and contract specifications. The successful candidate will review, interpret, and perform checks on all types of construction drawings, attend meetings, respond to questions, resolve problems, and maintain inspection reports. Additionally, they will need to develop and maintain cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, clients, and representatives from other organizations. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, working outdoors in extreme heat and cold, and the ability to work 50+ hours per week and weekends when necessary.

Responsibilities

• Inspects various types of construction projects to ensure compliance with regulations and contract specifications.
• Reviews and interprets construction drawings, attends meetings, and maintains inspection reports.
• Develops and maintains cooperative and professional relationships with employees, managers, clients, and representatives from other organizations.

Requirements

• Five or more years of construction inspection experience preferred.
• KDOT inspection experience and certifications preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree or higher and a current/valid driver's license.
