Position Summary

The Engineer II (EII) at EarthScope Consortium manages and implements multiple field projects related to geophysical instruments and networks. This role involves participating in field operations, proposing new technologies, and collaborating with team members and other engineers. The EII ensures all work meets organizational standards and contributes to technical reports and project documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Implement geophysical projects and support multiple projects.
  • Identify and solve technical issues related to geophysical sensors.
  • Assist in the design and testing of new systems.
  • Evaluate instrument design for adequacy and specify station configurations.
  • Document activities and metadata, draft technical reports.
  • Participate in collaborative projects with other departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, geosciences, or related field.
  • 3 years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks.
  • Experience with data quality analysis software preferred.

Skills & Abilities

  • Technical knowledge of geophysical sensors and tools.
  • Proficiency in hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret data and make decisions.

Additional Requirements

  • Availability for travel and field operations.
  • Valid driver's license and passport for international projects.
  • Ability to meet physical qualifications for extreme environments.
